New real-time bus departure screen installed at Great Yarmouth railway station
Great Yarmouth is the latest Greater Anglia station to benefit from a live onward bus information screen for its customers.
A new screen has been introduced to help those arriving find their onward journey times from the nearby bus stop.
The screen is jointly funded by Norfolk County Council using Government funding to improve bus services across Norfolk, and is part of an ongoing programme to improve transport integration across the Greater Anglia network and follows similar live bus screens at Norwich and Cambridge stations.
The new screen shows up to the minute information, including bus route numbers, destinations, departure stops, and countdowns to departures in minutes. This allows passengers to make quicker, more informed connections between train and onward bus services.
Scott Dolling, Greater Anglia’s Partnerships Manager, said:
“Great Yarmouth as a holiday destination sees many people visiting for the first time, so helping customers find their onward connections can be of great value. This screen also gives directions to the bus stop to make the connection even more seamless.”
Councillor Graham Plant, Norfolk County Council’s cabinet member for highways, infrastructure and transport said:
“Bus passenger numbers continue to grow across Norfolk and key to that are the improvements we’re making ensure that using the bus is as easy as possible. Having live information at key sites such as Great Yarmouth railway station is a great way of helping people to confidently choose the bus for their onward journey.”
The screen has been welcomed by the East Norfolk Transport Users Group (ENTUA) and the Wherry Lines Community Rail Partnership, who also champion improved links for public transport in the town.

Chris Mitchell, Chair of the Wherry Lines Community Rail Partnership, said:
“We very much welcome this initiative, which will assist rail passengers arriving in Great Yarmouth with their onward journeys.”
During the summer season, a special Wherry 100 service supported by the CRP runs from outside the station and will add to the usual provision with daily services to the holiday parks, town centre and seafront, also featuring on the new screen.
Greater Anglia is committed to improving integrated transport options, which features in a new campaign launched this week. The new screen is part of an ongoing action plan to enhance the customer experience for onward travel. Passengers can also take advantage of PlusBus tickets, which offer integrated train and bus travel across the Great Yarmouth area.
