Bus grant funding delivers service improvements across west Norfolk

Passengers in King’s Lynn, Hunstanton and surrounding areas are benefiting from a range of bus service improvements funded through the Government bus grant.

The changes, introduced on 1 June and delivered by Lynx Buses, include new early morning journeys, more consistent timetables and improved local connectivity.

Service improvements include:
• New early morning journeys on Service 34 between Hunstanton and King’s Lynn, with 06:10 departures from both locations, improving access to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for staff, patients and visitors.
• Service 36 now runs Monday to Saturday, replacing a term-time only service and providing more consistent travel options throughout the week.
• Increased frequency on Services 33/33C, now running up to every two hours.
• Two new local services (33A and 33B) improving connections within Hunstanton and surrounding villages, including a new circular route to Ringstead.

Councillor Tom Dickerson, cabinet member for highways & transport, said:
“This investment shows our continued commitment to improving bus services for people in West Norfolk. By using Government funding to enhance routes, increase reliability and add new journeys, we’re making it easier for residents to get to work, access healthcare and stay connected to their communities. These improvements are about delivering a better, more dependable service that meets the needs of local people.”

Since 2022, Norfolk County Council has secured £65.45 million in government funding to improve bus services across the county. Of this West Norfolk has seen significant investment totalling £14 million of which £2.5m has gone towards enhancing services.
